Episode 6 - Loyalty 71

Tonight, President Martinez and Blake Sterling fulfill their agreement with Thomas, but after their plan goes awry, they suspect that there is a possible mole in their midst.

Elsewhere, Sean Walker digs for answers at Leila’s home, where he encounters Madeline (guest star Paula Malcomson), a mysterious conspiracy theorist.

Also, Simon’s past is illuminated, and his allegiances are tested.

Anyone who watched 24, where several of The Event's producers and writers came from, knows that if there can be a mole, there WILL be a mole. There's always a mole.

Hello Everyone.

Hello, hope this is a pivotal episode tonight. All day twitter and facebook has been busy with posts from cast and crew raving about tonight! :) Enjoy east coasters!

Tess315 said...

My favorite torn character is getting some background tonight. Can't wait. :)

Tess315 said...

Hi maven!

MJCarp said...

hi all. we'll be short one tonight, 0b_ is on the move. I think 'explosive' is the key word tonight.

Black Swan said...

Hi all... looks to be good tonight!

Black Swan said...

who's the girl in 1954?

Black Swan said...

oh, that was smart..

MJCarp said...

no water

Bill said...

Sean's girlfriend is Violet, must be a human

MJCarp said...

more water talk

MJCarp said...

"who the hell told you to do that" and "I don't know, it just happened." implies a lack of emotional attachment, love by direction?

Tess315 said...

My theory was that they came from a watery place. But if they don't have water I guess that blows that theory...
Or maybe they had water but don't anymore.

At first I thought that the crash site looked like the craft had erupted from underground not crashed from above. Crazy I know. :)

MJCarp said...

human body and planet mostly water. But he doesn't say water scare or water polluted, zero water. He enjoys total submersion.

Tess315 said...

When Blake said not terrestrial. Made me think water. But water is considered terrrestrial. I don't know. I find it interesting that water seems important to Simon.

Just Thinking said...

Hi guys- just caught up to live TV.

Just Thinking said...

Oo- is she Truthseeker?

Tess315 said...

They're pushing to hard towards them being aliens.

Tess315 said...

JT
Could be.

MJCarp said...

EBEs Extraterrestrial Biological Entities

aha!

Black Swan said...

I agree, SG.

Illuminati involved here, LOL

MJCarp said...

nice catch JT

MJCarp said...

The EBENT!

Just Thinking said...

lol LT

Just Thinking said...

Oh- don't want to lose Simon already!

Black Swan said...

a hatch!

MJCarp said...

is he saying that for her benefit or can they chose to age?

Black Swan said...

I think they just age differently than we do, JT..

what the **** what are we seeing here with this building?!?

Black Swan said...

a bit unbelievable here that anyone would have survived that implosion

Just Thinking said...

that's what I was afraid of BS- that he would stay in a falling down building. And looks like he did.

Tess315 said...

Looks like he created a vortex under the building. But why?

Just Thinking said...

Method of transportation perhaps.

Black Swan said...

hmmm, JT. good thinking

Just Thinking said...

So- wonder what the relationship between Thomas, Sophia and Simon is. Blood relatives? There is that affection between Thomas and Sophia, but she was the boss. Mother?

Tess315 said...

Yeah probably. It drained their resources grabbing the plane. Didn't take long to bring it back up.
That's a crazy way just to travel.

MJCarp said...

and the clip from next week implies connection to children again.

Tess315 said...

I've been thinking Sophia is Thomas' mother. I'm not sure about Simon. Maybe.

Tess315 said...

That clip was a little weird. And we have to wait 2 weeks for another episode.

Just Thinking said...

I missed the clip- what was in it?

Tess315 said...

The clip was pretty quick and my memory isn't the best. It showed Samantha's (Liela's little sister) kidnapping and they took her to a room full of other children doing...not sure.

Maybe LT or Black Swan can give you better details.

Oh an we haven't lost Simon but he's not in good hands.

Just Thinking said...

Oh- good about Simon- I think!

Black Swan said...

Sorry, I missed most of that clip too, except for seeing Liela's little sister in what seemed to be a school or something.

I was reading from the previous thread and that's interesting what you said there, SG...

"Here's a thought what if the plane was grabbed out of the sky not to save Sophia or the President but to save Sean."

I really like the idea that Sean is the reason the plane was grabbed out of the sky because he's THE important link in all this somehow.

Thomas does care about his own 'people' (or should we say, fellow aliens?), but he doesn't seem to care about humans at all. I can't figure the relationship between him, Simon, and Sophia either, other than Sophia seemed to be a level above Thomas when they first arrived here in 1944 and now he's been out there for a long time and has his own ideas about things now. He seems like Simon's 'bad twin', LOL.

I really loved the back story of Violet and Simon tonight and their reunion touched me. It reminded me of Richard in Lost, never aging yet not being able to be with the one he loved. When they spoke of having kids, I almost half-expected Violet to say, 'I was pregnant when you left me. You have a son and his name is Sean.' LOL (I have no idea how that would work with the aging thing, tho)

I like that they're showing these 'aliens' as being so much like us, having the same complexity and capacity for emotions as we have.

Tess315 said...

I think we need to pay attentiion to the timeline too. 5 yars ago Vicky was killing a family.

5 years ago Sean and Leila met.

Black Swan said...

Hmmm, interesting..

Like Sophia says, they haven't told us everything yet. Like Locke says, we're gonna have to watch that again, LOL

maven said...

I'm posting some thoughts as I watch and also seeing what you guys thought.

The 1954 flashback was well done (down to her charm bracelet). The talk of no water where he comes from opens all kinds of possibilities. 10 years on our Earth has passed, maybe he just hadn't had a chance to go to the beach! :)

So Michael Buchanan "brought this on himself". Could that mean that he is one of them?

Is Sophia afraid of dogs? Or do they don't have dogs (along with water) where she comes from?

Thomas telling 1954 Simon that it's his job to get them home implies that they don't belong here and now. Also, he needed Simon to help them. I guess Simon hasn't helped much in all these years.

Could Madeleine be Truthseeker?

EBs? Is that what Madeleine called them...extraterrestrials...in her frantic mind. Or did she and Michael uncover something saying that?

OMG...another hatch!

How can people survive that? Did a spacecraft take off from there? Or did the same thing that they did with the plane? What the heck happened?

Now we have to wait 2 weeks!!

Black Swan said...

Hi Maven! I don't think Michael is one of them and the reference that he 'brought this on himself' is because he and Madeline got too close to the truth.

From wiki:
"The CIA realizes there are other aliens and secretly plans to find and kill them. The agent chosen to head the effort is himself an alien and that fact is unknown to the agency."
So, I think this is what Simon has been doing all these years; being the mole in the CIA to protect the aliens who are not imprisoned, the ones that got away from that crash scene in 1944. It seems more Thomas's job to find a way for them all to get 'home'. Of course, we don't know what 'home' is. All we know is that Thomas has been working for years and years on this and when I saw that hatch and the implosion of that big building, it really reminded me of the Swan hatch implosion. I wonder how long this will last that I find Lost in so many things, LOL.

According to the TruthSeeker there's a Madeline who is a contributor to the blog (as seen in the Sept. 20th post there (http://www.truthseeker5314.com/2010/09/dont-believe-the-lies/).

Zort70 said...

I could definitely see the connection between Madeline and Truthseeker before you had reminded us of that Blsck Swan.

Loved the episode itdefinitely upped the pace a bit.

The flashback was very LOST like connecting the past and present.

I'm assuming the transportation takes whatever is in the bubble that is created and moves it somewhere else. If the foundations for a large building happen to be in the bubble, then the reast ofthe building is definitely going to collapse to where they used to be !

I've added some images from the episode to the main page.

maven said...

I guess I'll give up with Michael being one of them. I guess he did "bring it on himself" according to Carter. He probably got too close to the truth and he became a target to be used for the plan thought of by whom ever hired Vicky and Carter.

And thanks, BS, for reminding us about Madeline being a contributor to the Truthseeker blog and not Truthseeker herself. At least we know where they're getting some of their info.

StillWatching said...

After this one, I keep picturing a council of some sort on a distant planet with no water authorizing a team of scientists to go to earth and open a wormhole under the sea and steal our oceans.

LOL

Here's a dumb question though - if they are biologically almost identical to us, wouldn't their bodies be made of mostly water too? How can they survive on a planet with not water? Or does he just mean no bodies of water?

Tess315 said...

Yeah I guess I'm going to have to give up on Michael being Inostrankan too. But we knew he knew to much not to at least know abut them. Like when he knew the helicopters (or some kind of air craft as Sean called them) coming to the crash site weren't there to help them. I still think when Carter said to him You know what were capable of he was talking about something other than murder and kidnapping.

I'm kind of going back to Vicky and Carter being Inostrankans now after he told Agent Collier good like find out who he is with his fingerprints. Or at least Carter maybe not Vicky. lol

I love it when a show or a book keeps me guessing. I don't know why there are so many people hating on this show. I'm enjoying it.

I'm curious why Carter, Vicky and probably others are being ordered to kill and kidnap people. They've been doing it for at least 5 years.

In the promo where they take Samantha into the room with other children I found it intersting they were all girls. I wonder if that is coincidence or significant?

I know this sounds stupid but I kind of thought Sophia was trying to understand the dog. lol I think the dog just didn't like her, maybe because she's different. I'm still not buying aliens. Watch this be the biggest red herring of the whole show. Shoving it in our face that they are aliens so we won't buy it when really they are aliens. lol Hope not.

StillWatching said...

I wanted them to be from Atlantis, but if there's no water at all where Simon comes from I guess that's out. :(

maven said...

This show is definitely keeping me intrigued. However, it turns out they are just aliens from another planet I might be disappointed!

Just Thinking said...

Interesting idea about the dog Tess. They made a point that Sophia apparently can speak the language of whoever she is talking to- was it Chinese she was speaking with the man she bumped into? They are dropping hints as to how the 44s are different from us looks like.

So this is where y'all are hidin'!

I guess I'll have to go play catch-up with the comments...unless someone can give me the Cliff's notes of what you have been discussing so far. I am all caught up on the episodes, but I don't have a clue as to what is Truthseeker, or anything else outside the actual show.
I am not able to watch the show live, so I stream it on hulu.com or I watch it OnDemand on FiOS a few days later. ;-) gotta love technology!

I'll see y'all later! hugs!

Tess315 said...

Hi Amused great to see you here!
Cliff Notes hmmm. I've never been very good at condensing my thoughts.

We've discussed who we think the Inostrankan's/Detainee/44ers are. Alien, future humans or possibly something else. ( We've also discussed what to call them. I don't think we ever settled on one thing. :) )

If the kidnappers Vicky and Carter are Inostrankans or work for the goverment or both. Or do they work for someone else.

Who to trust the VP or Blake Sterling.

If Sean and/or Leila or any member of her family is an Inostrankan or not.

Why are they after Sean.

We discuss the vortex/wormhole as a possible form of transportation. I personally would like to know how they create it.

That's just a few things I can think of off the top of my head. You have a week to catch up since there isn't an episode this Monday.

Oh Truthseeker5314 is a blog NBC created. It a conspiracy blog were the Truthseeker posts pics from the show and stuff that happens on the show as secrets they've found about this conspiracy. Zort has a link in the sidebar.
See ya around.

One more thing. I don't know if you know my new name. I use to go by Sayidsgirl. :) And K is lost2010.

maven said...

Happy Halloween to all! Don't eat too much candy. :)

Amused2bHere said...

Thanks for the catch-up, SG.

Why are they after Sean? hmmm I guess we have to figure out who is "they" first.

Stay safe this weekend, everyone.

Tess315 said...

Happy Halloween maven. Our trick or treat was Thursday night. We had 112 kids not bad considering it was around 57 with a breeze.

You're welcome for the catch-up Amused. Yes, who are "they"? hmmm

Tess315 said...

There's another connectiion to water. When Blake was trying to get information from William he asked for a glass of water with ice. I thought this was a strange request then thought it was just William feeling he was in control and enjoying it.

But with Simon saying they didn't have water where he came from, it may mean something more. Or not. :)

Tess315 said...

I wonder if there's anything significance in one of Vicky's alias' Erika Bartlett who was supposedly killed in a car accident while studying Mandarin at the Xingxai
institute in Hong Kong.
And Sophia knowing how to speak Mandarin? Or is it just coincidence?

Just Thinking said...

Nice connections Tess. They could turn out to mean something for sure.

maven said...

There's a new Truthseeker post up (even tho there's no Event tonight). Some of the files from Michael Buchanan's Alaska file were downloaded by Madeline before she cut off abruptly.

Also a few tweet from Pres. Martinez saying the explosion was not terrorist related and telling people to stay calm.

Tess315 said...

I see there's a medical reasearch facilities marked on the blue print.

I wonder if the Inostrankan's are doing the research or if the research is being done on them?

Zort70 said...

Hi all, just checking in.

There is also a tweet from Sean today to say that he is going fishing.

Tess315 said...

Hi guys
I just finished listening to theeventcast podcast and they had some interesting information. The pictures at Truthseeker are of Los Alamos and Area 51. The one at the bottom with the explosion is from Are 51 also known as Groom Lake Military Facility.

Why post pictures of Area 51? Los Alamos I can understand Thomas worked there. Are they trying to say the Inostrankans are involved with Area 51 or could it Just be Madeline's EBE theory?

Zort70 said...

Hi, just saw your Tweet Tess, all these time zone changes are getting confusing.

There is also a new post at the TruthSeeker5314 blog, it contains a puzzle, so get your thinking caps on.

Tess315 said...

Zort
That's ok :). I went out not long after that.
Hmmm a numbers puzzle. I'm not good at those but I'm gonig to try and see if I can figure something out.

Tess315 said...

I think the names have to do with what we seen at the end of the last promo, the room where they took Samantha. I don't remember if I said this before but I found it odd that the only children in the room were girls.

I've no Idea what the numbers and letters mean. ;)
