He invites us to decode the signal, and I know that this is usually what we as a community are good at.
Let's have a go and if you decode it let us know in the comments or email us at TheEventCommunity@gmail.com
Update: TruthSeeker posted on December 29, 2010
Sorry for the radio silence, folks, I took a little heat for that last post. Apparently the Freedom of Information Act doesn't apply to classified satellite transmissions. Who knew? But bottom line, we were able to break the story first and have since decrypted a fragment of the message. Score another one for the little guys. We may not have the processing capabilities of the DoD, but we were able to confirm the following:
"PREPARATIONS ARE..." (in some kind of cool "code" font)
It's too soon to start guessing what the remainder of the message states, so our computers continue to run decryption algorithms, hoping to illuminate it ASAP. If anyone has any spare computing power that they could volunteer, please let me know. We've already burned through 4 server blades, an old 3.46 gHz processor, and two RAID arrays.
Happy Holidays to all!

There are some interesting frequency separations, the lower frequencies are an almost regular beat, but the upper frequencies are more like code, like what you would hear with an old style modem connection.
LIsten #1 :08 seconds Listen #2 :12 seconds
Sounds like Listen #1 is part of #2
the text of the message is stranger than the signal
reference to Ziggy Stardust, Casa de, Jolt, Pale Blue Dot, Knight Commanders of the Digital Realm. Funny reference to WikiLeaks.
Otherwise, I have no clue. LT
This seems like a recorded modem transmission to my son, and he spent awhile hooking up computers with modems to see if it could be entered in and translated. No luck.
There do seem to be folks on the internet who will do it for a fee-so maybe someone out there has the software to enter it in.
Also, have slowed it down as just an audio file- don't hear anything there.
Maybe it is a message and reply? Like- "come to such & such at this time" and "yes, will be at such and such at x time".
Popping in to say hi to all! Just returned from 15 day Panama Canal cruise, which was fantastic! Now facing reality of laundry, marketing and losing cruise weight!
Got a lot to catch-up on besides The Event (my DVR list is mind-boogling)! Hopefully, will be up to speed soon!
wb Maven! I'm glad you enjoyed your cruise.
As for the puzzle before us, I haven't a clue...
Well, I'm finally caught up and now we have to wait for quite a while!
Liked your discussion re Dempsey and whether the serum was for youth or making him fit in. Whatever it's for doesn't last long and that's probably why he needs something from the hybrid children of 44ers.
It will be helpful if the comsat "message" that hurt the war room's ears could be deciphered. What message is Thomas sending home? Could be we're happy here and we're not coming back...or come on over, this is a great place to live. It seems Thomas' faction is much larger and placed in vital positions...Sophia might be outnumbered.
Nice job on the, The Event collage. Thanks!
Merry Christmas and New Year Zort.
I'll be back here in March ready to discuss.
Nice job, fearless leader! March! That's a long hiatus. Merry Christmas to those that celebrate, and best in the new year! LT
Great post, as usual, Zort! The collage is awesome.
March is a long wait...but us Losties are used to long waits! I'm not giving up on this show!
Merriest of Christmas' to those who partake. And Happy New Year to all! I wish all the best in 2011 to everyone!
See you all on the other side, I'm preparing for a Christmas eve party that we have.
You are all invited of course :-)
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!
I'll bring the cookies zort. I'm making plenty.
Hello everyone-
I recognize many of the names from TEC- looks like many of you have successfully engaged with this show?
I have some time before the new year--- in your opinion- is this worth throwing myself into? Have others dropped out? What were the complaints?
Maven and whoever else might have it... have you enjoyed your LOST encyclopedias? Did it help you resolve anything about the finale?
Happy New Year to all...
The Other Lisa--- not Lisa M, who I see what here long before me... don't want to repeat confusion!
Hi TOL
Nice to see you drop by. There were only a handful who were coming here and discussing The Event. Most of them have dropped out except for Black Swan and myself.
Is the show Emmy award winning worthy? No. But I find it interesting and intriguing. I'd call it an action drama with a little sci-fi twist. It does start out a little slow. Around the third episode it was a little boring but I thought it picked up after a few more episodes.
The first few episode had a lot of jumping back and forth via flashback which confused some people. By the hiatus though they had pretty much quit using flashbacks.
I hope you give it a chance. It would be nice to have more people to discuss with. Right now we have about four or five.
Now for the reason I came here. :)
Truthseeker just tweeted that he/she's working around the clock on decrypting the sat transmission. I guess they've given up on us solving it. lol
Oh btw TOL
The Event is on hiatus until Feb 28th when they'll have a two hour recap show. Then they'll start new episodes on March 7th.
Ok Truthseeker has finally made a post.
Tales From The Decryption.
He/she has broke part of the code. It says
"PREPARATIONS ARE..."
If I don't drop by again before the new year.
Happy New Year! Everyone. :)
Hi, TOL: Yes, there's not many of use discussing episodes here....maybe it's not as mysterious as LOST was? LOL But I'm sticking with it...it's has just enough intrigue to keep me interested. I would advise to get caught up...not starting again until Feb 28th (as Tess said).
I'm almost finished reading the Lost Encyclopedia...I'm on the Vs! It's been very worthwhile, confirming a lot of things. I haven't gotten to the flash sideway section yet, but I'm very comfortable with the ending of the series.
I did update this post with the new TruthSeeker post. If we wait long enough, we'll get the whole answer! :)
Have a Happy New Year everyone!
Thanks Maven and SGTess... will keep it under consideration since there seems to be plenty of time to catch up!
Happy New year to all!
Lisa
There's a new blog post at the Truthseeker blog. It's about the new character played Virginia Madsen.
