Vice President Jarvis (Bill Smitrovich) vocalizes his lack of faith in President Martinez’s (Blair Underwood) leadership and agrees to meet with an adversary.
Sophia (Laura Innes) pushes forward in her search for a super weapon, and, after witnessing injustices within the sleeper community, Leila (Sarah Roemer) begins to question where she belongs.

Whoop-de-do...I'm first. Hope there's something to talk about tonight.
I'm hearing rumors it's been canceled along with V.
Hi Maven... congrats on being first!
Gosh, I hope these rumors aren't true!
Hi Maven and Swan.
I've heard the rumors to there's an online petition to save the show.
Hi SG!!
I've been following show cancellations a bit on twitter and I think I did see that.
Did
this get discussed?
No. That's the first time I've seen that. I've been busy cleaning out Mom's house getting ready to sell it.
Oh, I know just what you're going through, SG ((hugs)). I'll keep my fingers crossed with selling the house.
A tweet from Jason Ritter today, in case you missed it:

Big answers in tonight's episode of The Event! 9/8c on NBC. Spread the word! I'll give you a special word spreading knife and some toast.
hmmmmm, what's being kept on ice?? oh, Sophia's guy, Herbert. Has to get rid of all the 'evidence', but evidence of what??
wow, that was a start with a bang!
totally confused, tho.
Gonna take a guess here, that the ice was protecting dna of some kind.. just a hunch.
Thanks Swan.
Maybe a virus? Or something to get rid of the humans?
Oh, could be SG.
Whoa, Sophia.. no mercy
hmmm, could the president's wife be the one who gave Sophia the VP's number?
And called Simon last week to get him out of the White House.
You think the VP will sell out again?
oops 2 weeks ago.
Hi guys. Missed the beginning as I was on the phone- will go back to watch later.
Yike- can't stand knives!
You want to make a bet she calls the VP. hehe
Why SG? Can't remember a connection.
SG, Once a sell-out, most likely will sell-out again, LOL.
Hi JT!
Yeah, that knife cut made me cringe!
SG, you mean Leila?
Yes Leila. It seems she always messes things up. So the one person she shouldn't call she probably will.
Hi JT Sophia approached the VP to take the Prsident's place after she take him out.
Boy, they really have flipped Sophia's character around.
Wanna hear something funny? They just showed the Prez. walking in finding his wife sleeping and my hubby said, 'Ah, the lizard!' ROFL..
Leila.. always messing things up, LOL
Uh Oh
Well, we knew the VP would do that, didn't we? I thought Blake was gonna herniate something for a minute there, LOL.
Hmm, she should have thought of what she was going to say.
Path that you've "carved"- as in stone.
whoa!
Woah didn't see that coming.
Well, that's one way to make your point. Not a way I'd want to use- but very effective! Yikes!
I get the feeling Dempsey was happy to do that.. who wants to live forever??
This doesn't look good.
Yes, that looks like a guy who died of some disease humans won't have immunity to now.
So is that frozen guy like Dempsey's nemisis or something?
Or *nemesis*
SG- I'm thinking the aliens buried him there a long time ago- knowing he would carry a disease that could be used as a weapon later.
That frozen guy is 'The Weapon'. I think he must have a disease/virus that will kill all humans, but not the aliens.. like JT said
The thing with Sean being 'The One' who has the best shot at saving the world somehow reminds me of 'The Matrix'. It's like this is his destiny and he just doesn't know it yet.
I wonder how a half-breed (like Leila) would respond to 'The Weapon'?
Darn, I'm gonna miss Dempsey, LOL.. He was so interesting.
Actually, it all reminds me of Lost. They all had to find their destinies as it related to the Island. They didn't understand the reason behind their paths until the end either.
I'm wondering if the 'variables' in The Event will end up being the half-breeds?
I know the frozen guy is the weapon. You're probably right he carries a virus.
But I'm wondering who he is. Has he been around as long as Dempsey? Is he the alien version of Dempsey?
Good question, SG. Since he's buried in ice, maybe he's the cause of the Ice Ages, the demise of the dinosaurs, etc.. OK, I know I'm going way out here now, LOL.
Ah-well, to be a good nemesis I think he would have to stayed alive! Have a feeling he was a redshirt.
LOL, JT. only a redshirt..
btw, I love your default pic here. We woke to snow this morning, so it's difficult to keep that spring feeling. Looking for a light pink sweater to go with my uggs for my Easter outfit.. :P
heheh you've got a point JT.
Swan we haven't had snow but days and days of rain.
Updates already at NBC.com/the-event
"New! Dempsey's Desk Lives On!
See what appears on Dempsey's desk after his shocking suicide!"
So, I wonder if this will be Sean's next move and part of stuff he'll find as per instructions (possibly in that bag?) I'm cool with that desk becoming 'Sean's desk', but I'm disappointed in not finding out more on how Dempsey rose to power and riches, other than to know he had a longgggg time to get all that. artistic license, I guess.
SG, you haven't had any tornadoes I hope?
No. Not in my area.
Maybe Dempsey was testing the girls to find a antivirus for the weapon.
Thank you Swan- I changed from the snowman to ward away any more flakes. The last of our snow at the house is melting in two tiny piles - I think it will be gone tomorrow!
SG- they haven't really explained about the girls yet- have they? So, what does happen to Dempsey's organization after he's gone I wonder?
Glad you're staying away from the tornadoes, SG! I just heard on Nightline:
There have been more than 200 tornadoes in just the last 3 days. One of the worst spring storm seasons in history.
JT, wow.. you still have snow piles?! We got this couple of inches of snow this morning as a bad surprise, but it's already melted and we didn't have any snow left before that.
I still think the girls were used to give Dempsey a youth serum to keep him going until he found the one who could continue his work of saving the world from alien attacks. Since Dempsey gave Sean the black bag and he's passing the torch to Sean to continue his work, I wonder if Sean will 'inherit' all from Dempsey or at least he may have the keys now to things in his office, including the scroll and that box we can't open there yet.
Swan- I think we had the last bit of snow in town- from a huge pile that we got shoveling off the roof.
Dempsey did say something interesting about Sean- that he was an outsider- not a Sentinel- at least not yet.
Well- must hit the hay-if they cancel the show- I say we should get together here and just make up our own ending! Night, all.
Not much to add to the discussion as you guys watched the show. It was shocking about Dempsey...definitely wanted to learn more about the Sentinels from him. One would think Sean would look at that rolled up parchment (which we've "seen" in Dempsey's safe)!
Like your take on the frozen body harboring a alien virus.
Shame that Dempsey is gone I thought he was the most interesting character.
I'm fairly sure he has left instructions that Sean gets everything he had, or at least access to all the resources if not the full ownership.
The presidents wife is an illegal alien not an intergalactic one ! I'm not sure she was telling the complete truth :-)
Talking of cancellations, after all the activity in the last few weeks I have a feeling the producers knew a while ago and have accelerated the story to reach a conclusion of sorts at the end of the run.
It would be a shame if they have but it wouldn't surprise me.
I wish Syfy would pick up at least one of the two. . .if they really are cancelled. . .surely their Friday nights could stand either The Event or V, either one - I'm not that choosy really.
I like Sean better when he's running around being all chosen-y with Vicky than when he's being in love with Leila. Some people are just more effective when they're miserable. I also like Leila better when she's messing things up than when she's sitting around mooning over Sean. Even if she messes up - at least she's trying to do something. Better to try and fail than to do nothing at all. At least, that's what I think when I'm watching anyway.
I hated to see Dempsey go. . .he was the best one. . .and it occurred to me in this episode that he and Sean have the same haircut. . .which means nothing of course.
I kept thinking that the VP's plan won't quite kill the president and instead the wife will become the person who calls the shots instead (don't know if that makes sense politically - but wasn't Eleanor Roosevelt terribly influential when the president was sick way back when or do I have that mixed up with someone else?) - or at least she'd have the sympathy of the people and be able to send mixed messages through the media and keep things off balance. If she's not Dominican instead of Sophia-ian that is.
Good episode! Why do they always get better right when you're about to give up on them?
I've just noticed the new emails on Dempsey's office.
One talks about Sean being his replacement and the drug he was taking was a life extension solution.
I've created a new post, one for screen captures and one for the Truthseeker and Dempsey's office updates.
